Based on the survey from a couple weeks ago, it sounds like iPhones are a non-insignificant share of the market. Because of this I’ve decided to work on a cross-platform app. Because of this I’m creating a prototype as a webpage. I had researched various technologies and believe I’ve come across the best solution- to have a JavaScript and HTML5 driven app. It’ll work on both android and iPhone. Technically it’d be possible to make it accessible to people without a smart phone as well.

So far the steps look like this:

User opens program.

User is allowed to take a picture of OPK strip (with a note to the effect that it is best to capture the image before an evap line appears).

User is prompted to select the control line, and then the test line (I tried having the program sense it, but it proved to be problematic with some brands).

A comparison is done.

I’m thinking of adding a storage function that will allow a user to see it next to the stick from the previous day(s), also from the same CD of the previous cycle(s).

So yeah. I’m probably going to be using this blog as a documentation store for this app for the next week (until I begin working again). Any feedback would be helpful.

I’m super excited about my new job (and how much they will be paying me). Did I mention that they have an in-house day care? 😀 So psyched!

Also, because my life is now awesome, I’m watching Buffy Season 4, because ❤
