So, at 2 am, I woke up with bad cramps and couldn’t fall back asleep until 4 am (I think? not sure all I know is that I listened to the Rita arc of season 3 of Arrested Development on my phone before my alarm went off at 5:45 my cat was waking me up by biting my head).

This cycle is really unlike the others I’ve had. I really feel that if I get my period, it’s going to be the worst period ever. My hormones seem to be wacky (also my boobs are awesome). The cramps feel like real full period cramps, not the gentle tugging most pregnant women describe. I’m guessing I may be out tomorrow or the next day (I sometimes have 11 day luteal phases).

Also the smell of Arm and Hammer pet deodorizer makes me want to punch something. It’s horrid.

PS- I’m sorry I’m so grumpy in this post.

  1. I know what you mean, no apologies necessary! I hope for you that they’re just implantation cramps!

Are these normal “I’m getting my period” symptoms to you?

    • DeCaf says:

Tender breasts are, normally not notably bigger. Cramps are not abnormal. Now that I’m more awake I think they were sympathy cramps. I get those when my wife has cramps and she has some yesterday and is due for her period today or so. My body is weird like that.

  3. Argh, weird cycles are the most frustrating in this process. On the one hand: hope! On the other hand: hope ;.;. ❤

I always used to ask my wife if “she felt like she was pregnant” and she’d always so, I don’t know what it’s like to be pregnant. So I started asking if she felt like she was getting her period, since she’s done that hundreds of times, and it was easier to pinpoint symptoms she recognized. With that said, the first two pregnancies felt a LOT like a period that never came and with this last one, her complete lack of period symptoms so close to the end of her luteal phase is what tipped us off.

I wish there was something concrete I could tell you but it’s just so all over the place. It’s not over until it’s over. Ugh, that sounds so cliche. But it’s true. So keep the hope alive for a few more days.

That will be will be. It’s both fun and maddening to try and guess how many lines the test will show, but in the end there is the observer problem – are my symptoms there because of nerves or because I’m watching for them?

Days 9 and 10 always feel the hardest. Hang in there. If you’re pregnant, we’ll celebrate!…and if you’re not, maybe we could buy you a glass of wine. 🙂

  6. If your level is usually 11 maybe you should supplement with low dose progesterone to get you above 16 (safe zone level) I hope that this one is IT for you!!! Keep checking in.

    • DeCaf says:

I have no idea what my progesterone is or normally is. I’ve always figured “my boobs hurt like a mother#*$# every month, so it’s probably okay”

It’s not even my 2WW and I get all anxious waiting for news!
